A few weeks ago my friend Kat and I discovered that our little town of Smyrna was blessed with a Thai restaurant right down the street from us. Being adventurous people, we decided that we had to come back and give it a try....so we did last night. I have to say it was an all-around awesome experience. First off because they had BUBBLE FRIGGIN TEA!!!
I go the melon flavored which had just the right amount of sweetness, and Kat decided to try the Taro flavored one. Because I had no idea what the hell taro was, I decided to wiki it:
"Taro (pronounced /ˈtɑroʊ/) is a tropical plant grown primarily as a root vegetable for its edible corm, and secondarily as a leaf vegetable. It is considered a staple in Oceanic cultures. It is believed to have been one of the earliest cultivated plants.[2] It is known by many names, including dasheen in the Caribbean and arrowroot in East Africa (which could easily be confused with the arrowroot plant Maranta arundinacea); it is one of several plants called cocoyam,[1] and when grown as an ornamental plant it is sometimes loosely called elephant ear together with the closely related Xanthosoma and Caladium."
Unfortuntaely I didnt get the picture of hers but it tasted kind of like Kettlecorn. It was almost salty sweet. Kat decided to get a mild chicken dish with mushroom and babycorn. It was delish as evident by the happy smile and two thumbs up...
A Thai restaurant in Smyrna? Where? I'll have to check it out when I'm home for Christmas! Isn't it crazy we're from the same town?
