While the boy is away...

...the girl will finish tons of work. So the headache that I said was around the corner decided to show up last night. I had to leave work early as I was hit with a migraine that had me grinding my teeth in pain. Driving home, in the rain at night with bright lights everywhere had tears running down my face. I literally just wanted to take a fork to my brain. But thankfully I made it home in one piece so I could swallow a few pills (just pain reliever) and crawl between my sheets. I was asleep by around 9:30pm and woke up around 8am this morning. The headache isn't completely gone and so I've had to take a few more pills but I'm feeling better than yesterday. I think just all the stress of working, finishing schoolwork and figuring out financial aid was a bit too much for my brain to handle.

So it's funny how things go. I leave Korea but it seems that Korea hasn't left me. The new guy in my life is actually Korean. He was born in Korea, grew up in Jamsil and moved to the US when he was 16yrs old. It's kind of funny, chances are I probably had seen him sometime in my life and vice versa. We actually met online and had a few dates before deciding to be exclusively together. I was actually a bit worried being that I am black and older Koreans definitely have this aversion to their children dating a black girl or guy. It's the same for many other ethnicities as well. It's like this "anything but black" mentality. However, apparently he told his mother about me and she gave him the 'ok.' I think it helped that he talked up my accomplishments (went to Vandy, getting my Master's, lived in Korea, no kids, not on welfare, etc.). Anyhoo, so she wants to meet and have dinner sometime soon which makes me a bit nervous as she doesn't speak much English at all and my Korean still isn't the best. It does make me feel better to know that she has, at least for now, approved of me seeing as he is the first son...

This weekend he had to go to Atlanta for business so I'm home enjoying work, school work and the elephant tap dancing in my skull....I'm not sure who got the best deal...

p.s. Neither I nor the boy (who I will call Oppa) are in the picture above...
